Stanpit Marsh Who are the Friends? The Friends of Stanpit Marsh is an association formed in 1983 to help preserve the Marsh for wildlife and people. They have a programme of events such as guided walks, talks and films, social gatherings, litter picks and regular coffee mornings at the information Centre on the marsh.
They raise funds to help finance such things as research and tools; the information Centre interior display; and contribute towards the cost of providing a marsh warden. There is a newsletter which goes out to all members at least three times a year.
When necessary, The Friends act as a ‘pressure group' to help protect the Marsh, but mainly they try to assist in keeping a proper balance between the pressures of public use of the area and the environmental needs of the ecology.
If you would like to join this very friendly association, just print out this application form, fill it out and send in with your subscription to the membership secretary.
